Here comes City Center!!

It has taken almsot 5 years to complete and nearly $10B, but we are on the eve of City Center's grand opening. From my balcony, I have watched the largest privately funded project in US history be constructed and all I can say is, "I have seen the future". City Center is ulike anything I have ever seen before. It looks like something out of a movie based upon the future. As MGM/Mirages new crown jewel, City Center has been opening in phases over the last few weeks. Comprised of 5 seperate properties, City Center's Vdara opened first, followed by the Mandarin Oriental and Crystals (Retail Shopping Plaza). The last property to open is the Harmon Hotel, which opens its doors in the spring '10. But, this week opening is for Aria Casino Resort and the Veer Towers, the condo residential part of the development. Aria is to set the new standard of mega-casino's around the world. With over 4000 rooms, lavish resturants, nightclubs/lounges, spa and casino, Aria is the new kid on the block. Aria will also host the all new Cirque du Soleil Viva Elvis show in the Elvis Theatre. Will this mega-resort turn around Las Vegas, I think so.

Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto Tickets at MGM Grand

Just when everyone was hoping for a Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight to determine the "pound for pound" champion, Floyd took a fight with Juan Manuel Marquez. So, Manny had to look for an interm opponent and he chose Miguel Cotto. Miguel should be undefeated since his one loss was to the cheater Antonio Margarito. Look if Margarito got caught putting plaster on his hand raps against Shane Mosley, you know he did the same the fight before against Cotto. I was at that fight sitting 4th row center ringside and I can tell you over the course of the fight as the plaster hardened from the sweat inside the glove, Margarito's punches were like bombs. So, if the record was to erase the Margarito fight from Cotto's record, like it should, this fight against Pacquiao could be argued to be for the "Pound for Pound" title.

Here is the details for Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto. The fight will be held on November 14th in Las Vegas at the real mecca of boxng, the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The fight will be at a catch weight of 145lbs.. Upcoming Las Vegas Events - Weekend of 8/1/2009

Even though it is the middle of summer in Las Vegas, which is the off-season, there are some top name acts in town. The MGM Grand welcomes back legendary singer Rod Stewart on Saturday evening at 8pm. The Encore Theatre at Wynn Las Vegas welcomes one of todays hottest popstars, Beyonce. Beyonce is touring promoting her latest album, "I Am Sasha Fierce". Her shows at Encore will be very special engagments since the theatre only holds 1500 people, which is far less than the other arenas on the tour. But as you would expect, Beyonce ticket prices for the four shows are substantially higher than the rest of the tour. Beyonce will be performing at Encore from Thursday to Sunday.

On Saturday night, the Jonas Brothers will be performing at Mandalay Bay. The three brothers are among the hottest stars for pre-teens and their show is sure to be a sell-out. If these three acts aren't enough, there is something for you rock fans as Crue Fest hits the new Hard Rock Joint. This year, the annual Crue Fest will feature Drowning Pool, Charm City Devils, Gosmack, Theory of a Dead Man and Motley Crue.

You can buy all your Las Vegas Tickets at http://www.click4tickets.com/, where they are never sold-out.
